The key to wallpaper removal is following our proven process & thoroughly protecting what is in your rooms. I remove decorative objects from your walls, move furniture and other large items out of your rooms or towards the middle of them and cover everything in clean plastic. I do all of these steps to ensure that any paper scraps or other debris do not cause any damage to other areas of your rooms. Then I protect the floors with 3 mil plastic and lots of absorbent paper to act as a blotter to collect the water and wet mess. I also have several layers of drop cloths and no-slip rubber mats underneath, so your flooring stays safe. 

Also, one of the reasons why wallpaper removal is so challenging is because of how unpredictable the work often is. However, I know how to react to these changing circumstances and ensures that your home is treated with care throughout the process. Wallpaper never comes off easily and there is usually unavoidable damage to the walls that occurs. However, after the walls are cleaned, rinsed, and dried, they are sanded to remove debris and are skim coated as needed with drywall mud compound, then sanded. Typically, some repair areas require two coats of patching compound. To control dust, doorways are covered with plastic and ventilation ducts have filters attached. 

It should also be pointed out that the type of wallpaper used – for example, vinyl, fabric, etc. – will affect the strategies that I employ to remove it. One especially challenging example occurs when the walls had not been primed or poorly primed prior to the application of the wallpaper. Regardless of the specific circumstances, I will know how to handle them, but I will not know exactly what needs to be done until I see what is on the other side of the wallpaper. Sometimes a wallpaper steamer is used, or chemical enzyme solution. 

During your project consultation I will give a forecast on the expected labor hours which are billed at $60/man hour, plus materials. You will also be given a guaranteed price for repainting the room in THREE coats of primer enhanced premium paint, such as Behr Ultra Scuff Defense or Sherwin Williams Duration or Emerald. Please note that ceilings and trim will also need to be painted to ensure the best results. (Glue residue and steam will typically deface the ceiling, making repainting a must. Trim will need to be prepped, caulked, and painted in two coats as well.) 

Regardless of these factors, I assure you that I will complete this project as efficiently and thoroughly as possible as I know that you want to return to your normal routine without it having been disrupted any more than was absolutely necessary.
